A Must Read…The Making of a Dream into Reality!

I grew up in a musically artistic era that in my personal opinion yielded some of the most dynamic artistic geniuses in the entertainment industry of that time.

Freedom of expression and creativity that defined uniqueness in genuine bands, groups and individual artists was at an all time high for music lovers the world over.

It was a time of mutual benefit for the artists as well as music lovers because of the many different styles, song creativity, and instrumentals as well as production brilliance marked by a rise in unforgettable music arrangements the world had ever witnessed.

Real musical instruments, authentic productions, and artistic vocals and songwriters alike reigned supreme in an industry dominated by pure artistic talent and abilities.

Competitiveness was reduced to listening and enjoying many different forms of artistic expression of what music could do to enhance or influence a generation of music lovers that would stand the test of time.

I Knew What I Shouldn’t Have Known at an Early Age

I knew at an early age that music, not just in general, but really good music covering all genres resonated with my heart and soul. The uniqueness built on different sounds and artistry captured the very essence of emotions and feelings that remains as one of the biggest parts of my life. My interest in this artistic expression continued to grow, and the influence of which is felt to this very day.

Attending a traditional Friday Night Football Game at my local high school at the age five, and having an opportunity to hear a very good marching band is one I will never forget. Coming off of a high-energy half-time performance, I desired to get as physically close to the band as possible. Needless to say I had to talk one of my older sisters into taking me down where the band would be passing by. How you may ask, how else would I get what I want at the age of five, “I cried and pitched a fit” until she gave in. We made it just in time as they passed by high-stepping to the sounds of the drum section.

At last, as the drum section passed, it vibrated my soul to the core and I immediately knew that music would be apart of my life forever. Coupled with the distinctive musical groups and the Motown Sounds of that day, music filled my life with joy and a passion unlike anything else.

From that experience, the very next day I begin to literally “beat” on anything in my home with spoons, tree sticks, or anything I could get my hands on, in an attempt to learn the fundamentals of the drum. I desired to understand how different sounds formed a pattern of musical notes and carefully coordinated structured beat made songs. Thinking back, I’m sure I drove my family crazy, but at the time I was so driven to explore music and more specifically, my direct interest in the drum and other musical instruments that created my love for making music.

A Mother’s Love and Undying Family Support

My mother was and has always been my biggest confidant, and encouraged me to “be the very best at anything I chose the do or become in life.” With the full support of my parents and family, not to mention the dented furniture, tin trash can lids, and ear plugs that went into the ears of my older brothers and sisters, making sounds and music became my way of expressing internal feelings and emotions of childhood as an early age potential musician.

By the time I was in the sixth grade or at the age of eleven, I was offered an opportunity to try out for a very good high school marching band thanks to the exceptional and very highly regarded Band Director that recognized my drive, talent and determination to succeed in music as well as my undying love to create and make music for any audience willing to listen.

I became the youngest member to join a high school band while technically still in elementary school at the time, and I had found something at an early age that I truly loved and enjoyed, “the opportunity to explore all phases of making music from some of the best.”

To say the least, my time spent in the high school bands that eventually included the marching, concert, jazz bands, and an actual entertainment band (group), where we all collectively received numerous awards individually and as a group was very satisfying.

Again, this beginning experience cemented my love for music and performing for audiences throughout my tenure in this progressive learning entertainment environment where I excelled to become one of the most noted and gifted musicians of that time.

A Time to Move On and Find My Life Purpose

After this experience, and graduating high school, I went on to a University where I studied and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. Yet, the love for music and the music industry remained fixated in my heart and soul as music progressed in many new and different forms. In addition, I went on to receive a Masters in Business Administration in Technology Management.

While I was blessed to have a prominent career in the Engineering Profession that included starting several businesses in full support of an entrepreneurial life-style and experience, again, my love for music still weighed heavy on my mind and in my heart.

Realization that Spans a Lifetime of Pure Musical Love

The year was 1995, I was at a Concert and the individual who was the son of a very good friend of mine, who himself was a rising actor in the industry at the time, was completely killing it onstage. His vocals, songs and show were awesome, and he seemed to really have it together with a bright future in the entertaining industry.

After the concert, I went backstage and talked with him. It turns out he was really struggling and just hoping that someone would “discover” and "sign" him as an up and coming artist. In fact, he asked me if I wanted to be his manager, as I had recently begun an Artist Management Company called “Muzic Management Group.” He said he didn't know enough about the music business side of things and wanted someone to take charge and set him up for the big times.

I accepted the opportunity to manage him and his music career went on to new heights and exposure, as well as several other artists I had the privilege of managing at the time that indicated real potential to make it in the entertainment industry.

Unfortunately, it was equally a time when once again the music industry was changing (seemingly overnight) and the artists I represented was faced with a decision to change or become “outdated” to what the industry was currently looking for in artistic discovery.

Needless to say, the industry as always won, and the artists failing to make the changes required was never signed to any labels and went on to other endeavors. Having invested heavily in the then current format of music that would eventually die out completely within 6 months, I unfortunately had to transfer the remaining artists to other managing entities, closed up shop, and moved on to other business opportunities. It was the best decision at that time for me personally, but one that I still regret to this day.

A First Love Revisited, and Calling Finally Realized

After several successful business ventures, raising a beautiful family of my own, and over twenty years later after shutting down Muzic Management Group, as fate would have it, I found myself facing a similar situation above about a year ago. Once again, I was backstage at a Concert and the individual was absolutely killing it onstage with a favorable response from the audience.

Her songs and performance was breathtaking! She seemed as the time before with my friend’s son, to really have a chance to fulfill her dream of becoming a star and a bright future in the current entertainment industry.

Well, once again, it turns out that she was poorly managed, didn’t have an interest in the business side of the industry, and was struggling to the point of asking “why” she had not made it beyond doing a few gigs here and there, making very little money, and was frustrated with her career as a singer/songwriter. And once again, I heard the same old words---Will you manage my career?

This time it was different as I had no interest in managing anyone or interest in the entertainment industry from a business perspective (initially thinking “I’ve been there done that.)” In addition, I am already the founder and owner of a very successful safety engagement entity called Techlevel33 Capstone*, Https://www.techlevel33.com that was originally founded in the year 2000. Yet, I once again realized that many of the issues to break through the barriers of entry from the business side of the industry for many promising artists and entertainers was still just as relevant today as it was back in the early 90’s.

Actually, even bigger barriers exist today for many great up and coming artists, songwriters, and producers to get that one break or offered a genuine shot at stardom that could display their individual talents to the world.

With this revelation, I decided to once again enter into the entertainment industry, but this time, I would completely focus on the business and personal development side of individuals and groups aspiring to make it in a very competitive and ever changing music industry.

Founding of a Life-long Dream---Starbooque* Entertainment

After many years of continued intense study, networking, and hands-on experience to keep myself up-to-date on the industry from a business perspective, Starbooque* (Pronounced: Star^-Book*) was founded in the summer of 2017, with a launch date of early 2018 on the premise of assisting early-stage artists and businesses in support of artists and entertainer’s development to achieve their individual and collective entertainment goals based on an actual plan to succeed.

Starbooque*, through its structured and individually tailored Programs and personal interactions designed to bring about the desired results, gave birth to our “Incubation Program.”

The vision of what Starbooque* business model could represent begin to come to life to produce real-time results. Starbooque* provides the greatest opportunity for success for star quality individuals, groups, and aspiring businesses in the entertainment industry in a totally collaborative business model, and is poised to make dreams of “stardom” a reality.

You may, like lots of artists and/or entertainment support businesses, think you need someone to help you out too as you continue to rise beyond levels of just being good, to greatness above and beyond your wildest dreams. You truly have a burning desire to succeed and make or have a lasting impact in the entertainment industry---Do you? Like you may be a rising artist, band, group, producer, songwriter, manager, a publisher or even a record label? Maybe you have no interest in the business side of music or knowing the ins and outs of the entertainment industry in general, you simply want to focus on what you do best. If so, that is one of the biggest mistakes you can ever make and the thing that kills most entertainment careers from the very start of your entry into a very competitive industry. The business side is in fact the most important and critical component of entry into and longevity in the industry you aspire to make your mark as an artist or entertainment support business. That night at the Concert, something really clicked deep inside me, not only in my continued love for music in general, but equally to provide my unique expertise and services that extensively benefit the goals of artist and support businesses alike.

Unlike before, I didn't want to be the individual’s manager, but realized that I could help musicians, entertainers, up and coming star quality artists learn about the business side of their career, nurture their carefully defined individual development plans and goals - and when ready for the big times, thrive on their own to achieve greatness in their chosen profession as entertainers.

Once used up by the powers that be, become a “one hit wonder,” or you have an under

performing release---it does not matter “who you are” or “what you have accomplished” in the industry. “You are out” as they (record labels) are focused on the next artist to fulfill monetary goals for their business. So now what, you have made it, then loss it all in the blink of an eye, what’s next for you? And that’s exactly what I said to the artist backstage at the concert and how our New Artist and Entertainment Incubation Model begin. It was that simple, Starbooque* is poised to sincerely assist and help those that “want it most, need it most and willing to help themselves achieve life-long goals or dreams in the entertainment industry.” So I put all my energy into creating an entertainer and business support structure with forward thinking as a guild to ultimate success.

And allows Starbooque* to envision years from now, that we’ve helped thousands of musicians and entertainers make entertainment their full time “CAREER” and to extensively develop areas that would best exploit their full individual artistic abilities and God given talents to have staying power in a very competitive and ever changing entertainment industry.

Mission and Goals of Starbooque* Incubation Program The mission and goal of the uniquely individually tailored Programs are focused on a single primary goal - forming a business around your entertainment ambitions, and thinking like a entertainment entrepreneur for successful results that goes far beyond the here and now. Well into the future of a great career, your respective entertainment and business endeavors are destined to thrive and stay alive. I know, I know - “business” might sound boring or hard - however, when you understand how things work, you’re going to be hooked and feel “MORE POWERFUL” than ever before, and the incubation program is expressly designed to do just that---(You’ll know where you’re going and when as well as how you’re going to get there. While many promise but fall short in actual delivery, Starbooque* Incubation Program is probably what you’ll come to expect to get you where you want to be in the shortest amount of time possible for your continued growth in the industry.

It’s the one Program that you will ultimately view as a “life-line” to build important lasting relationships as you work towards individual and collective goals within the support business structure of the Program. Finally, you’ll achieve the highest levels of output and productivity well into building and sustaining a successful career and business in a highly competitive entertainment industry.
